Maritzburg United scored four second half goals at the Princess Magogo Stadium to register
an emphatic 4-2 Absa Premiership win over Cape Town City on Tuesday night.
After a lean spell in front of goal it was just what the doctor ordered for head coach Fadlu Davids as United now look to reignite their campaign.
The Team of Choice found themselves on the back foot when City opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Sibusiso Masina powered in a header from a corner.
Bevan Fransman nearly pulled one back seconds later but his effort was cleared off the line.
Mohau Mokate came close with a shot on the half hour mark, but City were able to take their lead into the break.
Maritzburg were back on level terms when Pogiso Sanoka headed in from a corner kick in the 55th minute.
Mokate put his side 2-1 up when he turned in a cross from the right hand flank 10 minutes later.
Mokate’s second goal was a near duplicate as he again fired in a first time shot from a low cross as the Team of Choice went 3-1 ahead in the 70th minute.
A Fransman own goal halved the deficit in the 88th minute but substitute Siphesihle Ndlovu made quite sure of the win when he netted in added time.
