Kaizer Chiefs coach Solinas felt that Sundowns played well.
“It tells a story to start the season and to be able to compete with the reigning champs, who had already played several highly competitive games in the African Champions League. We created several opportunities to win, coming close a number of times.”
“I am proud of my team,”The match ended in an one-all draw. “We played well and we could have won the match if we would have buried our chances.” said Giovanni Solinas
“I know what’s expected of me,” the Italian continued. “When you join a big club like Chiefs you know what you have to do and that is to win points. I am very happy with the professionalism of my team. The players are working hard at training and that’s exactly what we need to do if we want to challenge for honours this season.”
Leonardo Castro, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Khama Billiat all came agonisingly close but the final touch let them down.
“We have a limited period to recover before our next game against Bidvest Wits,” concluded Solinas. “It promises to be another tough encounter, but we will be ready come Tuesday night.”
Kaizer Chiefs will welcome Bidvest Wits for an Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday, 7 August, at FNB Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
