Van Wyk, It was difficult to stay overseas

Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk has officially returned home after two years spell at the Houston Dash fc.

Banyana Banyana claimed a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their Group A clash at the Wolfson Stadium in Nelson Mandela Bay on Wednesday (12 September).

“I’m excited to be back home, it has been a while 8 months and missed Cosafa Cup. Im just decided to start again with people who love us. I’m back home for good the overseas teams didn’t include us. Im 31 year old so i had to think about my future as I’m getting old.

“I  it was a great experience for me for the first few months, i really had to work my  butt off to see my name on the starting line-up. It made me a very strong player. It was a challenge because when you are a foreigner and no one knows something about you, you hardly play  It was very difficult for me. In Banyana Banyana everyone know what i can do unlike there, but also there was Vera Paw whom i worked with before.” Said Wyk

“I just want to play regularly at the national team”

Van wyk missed the first match against  Madagascar and watched from the stands

I think it was a tough game for the girls, and the pitch was hard. Im glad we managed to get a win and im looking forward to the next match against Zimbabwe. Concluded Van Wyk
