Ellis makes two changes to starting 11 for Botswana 2nd leg Olympic qualifier

Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana Desiree Ellis has made two changes to the team that played to a goalless draw against Botswana in the first leg second round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifier in Gaborone last week (Friday, 30 August).

The return leg takes place tonight (Tuesday, 3 September 2019) at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

Kickoff is at 19h00.

Sweden-based Leandra Smeda gets a first starting line-up spot after a long time, taking the place of left back Nothando Vilakazi, who’s on the bench.

Busisiwe Ndimeni gets the nod ahead of Rhoda Mulaudzi upfront.

Andile Dlamini starts in goals.

In defence, Smeda will join Lebohang Ramalepe, who is at right back, with Bambanani Mbane and Tiisetso Makhubela continuing their partnership in central defence.

Captain Refiloe Jane is in midfield alongside Robyn Moodaly and Mamello Makhabane.

Moodaly was replaced in the first half in the first leg because of an injury, but has since recovered.

Ndimeni has been tasked to go in search of the much-needed goals together with Jermaine Seoposenwe and Amanda Mthandi.

After the stalemate in Gaborone, there must be a winner tonight that will proceed to the third round of the qualifiers to face the victors in the clash between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The former won 5-0 in the first leg.
