Chippa United and Baroka FC played to a 0-0 draw in an Absa Premiership fixture at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon.
The result ends the Chilli Boys winning running in the league and leaves them bottom of the log standings, a point from safety. Baroka move up to 12th, but remain just a point clear of the relegation zone.
The best chance of the first half fell to the visitors in the 16th minute of the match as Elvis Chipezeze dropped a routine catch following a mix-up with Mfanafuthi Shozi, but lucky for the Baroka goalkeeper the hosts were unable to pounce on his fumble.
The game finally sparked into life midway through the second-half, thanks in large to Thabo Rakhale and William Twala who got the crowd off their seats, with the latter forcing Chipezeze into a fine save in the 75th minute.
Bakgaga, though, should’ve stolen all three points at the death, but Prince Nxumalo fired wide with the goal at his mercy as the two teams ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Both teams will be in league action next weekend with Baroka at home to Orlando Pirates while Chippa travel west to take on Cape Town City.
