Mokoena: I want to win trophies with Sundowns

Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokeona has ended speculation about his future when he signed a new contract, which will see him stay with ‘The Brazilians’ for a further three years.

The ‘Cheeseboy’ who found a new life when he joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Orlando Pirates, expressed joy at renewing his contract and says that he wants to now focus on doing well for Sundowns and help the club win silverware.

“I’m very happy to have renewed my contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, and I had no intention of leaving, or playing for any other team except Sundowns” said the skillful midfielder.

The 25-year -old also added : “I feel very confident that we will start winning trophies with the current squad as long as we work hard and for each other” explained Mokoena.

With the new contract the Soweto born player will now be at Chloorkop until 2015.

The team is currently camping in Polokwane preparing for the remainder of the 2011/12 season, as ‘The Brazillians’ are challenging for the league title.


Still at Sundowns, Matthew Pattison will continue with his quest for a contract in the UK following an indication that he may not be offered a contract by Leeds United.

The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder will now go to Scottish outfit Hibernian, where he will feature in trials and a game on January 30. Mamelodi Sundowns have given consent for the trials.

Pattison played in two matches for Leeds, and scored a goal in each, giving rise to hopes that he would be offered a contract. But Leeds have indicated that they were not going to offer him a contract.
