Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will renew their famous rivalry when they meet in an Absa Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, kick-off at 15h30.


Pirates come into the match having suffered a 3-0 loss away to Santos in midweek, a result which broke a four-game winning streak.


The Soweto side have an unbeaten home record this season, with seven wins and three draws from 10 matches. They have conceded just one goal at home this season.

The Buccaneers are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 33 points from 19 matches.


Chiefs are undefeated in their last six league matches, though they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bidvest  Wits in their last outing.


  The Soweto side has been inconsistent away from home this season, with three wins, five draws and two losses from 10 matches.


 Amakhosi are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 33 points from 18 matches. In head-to-head stats, Pirates and Chiefs have met in 52 league matches since 1985.  Amakhosi have 22 wins compared to Bucs’ 11, while 19 matches have been drawn.    Pirates have won just six of the 27 home league games they have had against their rivals.


When the teams met earlier this season Amakhosi claimed a 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Parker and Tshabalala, while Jele scored a consolation for Bucs.
