Manqele joins Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have captured the signature of the highly-rated striker, Edward Manqele, from Free State Stars. The deal was completed early this morning and the player joins the Brazilians on a five-year deal.

Speaking to SuperSport.com, the Sundowns communications co-ordinator, Thulani Thuswa, confirmed the news and thanked Ea Lla Koto and all the parties involved in making the deal a success.

“We are delighted to have signed a player of Manqele’s ability. We believe that he will complement the players that we already have in the team. He is a good striker, whose off the ball movements impressed our technical team,” Thuswa said.

Since Manqela burst onto the Premier League scene from the lower divisions last season, he has been the target of several of the top PSL sides, among them Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. His blistering form saw him score 11 goals and a Bafana Bafana call-up.
