Kaizer Chiefs confirmed as league champions despite 1-1 Draw against Supersport United

Lehlohonolo Majoro scored early in the second half as he gave Chiefs the lead but United replied late in the match through Sibusiso Zuma to level matters at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The visitors had an opportunity at goal in the 25th minute when their leading striker Kermit Erasmus hit a powerful free-kick that nearly caught Chiefs keeper Itumeleng Khune off guard as his shot changed direction in the air, but the Bafana shot-stopper did brilliantly to punch the ball away.

Majoro slipped low cross into the box which could not be tapped in by George Lebese and on the second bite of the cheery Majoro saw his shot with his weaker left foot from just close range well saved.

The deadlock was broken three minutes into the second half.

It took a mistake by the United defence for Chiefs to take the lead after keeper Ronwen Williams and Edwin Gyimah failed to communicate and Majoro was on hand to slot into the back of the net.

With two minutes remaining Zuma gave United the equaliser as he controlled well in the box and to quickly turn and shoot to beat Khune with a low shot, 1-1.

The game ended to a draw and Chiefs picked up their first league title in seven seasons
