Kermit Eramus on his first Soweto Derby this afternoon

The enterprising forward who was recently signed from SuperSport United earlier in the week said although it was not easy to leave the team he spent almost eleven years at, a move to the Mighty Buccaneers was too good to turn down.

“It is a dream of every player to play for an ambitious team like Orlando Pirates,” said Erasmus, who started training with his new teammates today.

“I won trophies at SuperSport (United) but I think at Pirates I have a chance of winning a lot more trophies. Another reason I joined the club is for their style of play – I think it suits me better.”

The Port Elizabeth born forward also admitted that he will have to work hard in order to claim a starting place in the squad.

“This is a big team and there are a lot of quality players. The team has set huge benchmarks and I think I will have to work extremely hard to get into the team. I obviously bring something different, but I’m prepared to fight and work for the team.”

Meanwhile coach Roger de Sa said he is happy to have Erasmus in his team.

“He is a goal scorer and at the moment in this country we do not have too many players that are natural goal scorers. I think it is a great acquisition for the team,” RDS said.
