We are ready for Ajax – Masilela

How do you and your teammates refocus after the hype of the Soweto Derby last week, to face the troublesome Ajax Cape Town?

“For us it’s all about professionalism. The Derby game is done and dusted. We gained 3 valuable points on the weekend but can’t keep on celebrating. The Ajax game is equally important with the same 3 points at stake,”

How did you psyche yourself after the loss against Platinum Stars last week heading to the Derby?

“We all knew that we were facing a big week with CAF Champions League, Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates but we told ourselves that the league is a marathon. We won in Maputo. We lost against Platinum Stars and we were disappointed after the game. The Derby became a must win for more reasons than just bragging rights, we could not afford to lose two games in a row,”

You were injured from 31st January and recently made a comeback, how do you keep up your fitness and top performance after an injury lay off?

“I continue to work very hard with the help of the Physios. I follow their programme for rehabilitation. I also do a lot of individual work.

I don’t sit back when I am injured, I do a lot of extra training. It doesn’t mean when you have a leg injury your whole body must stop with the training. That is how I manage to keep up my fitness,”

What do you know about Ajax Cape Town, your opponents of Wednesday?

“Ajax are a good Team. They have an exciting bunch of young players who are full of energy. They will be very difficult opponents especially now that they have the new Coach in Roger de Sa. There are no easy games anyway in this league. We will give our best to win,”

Have you watched Ajax play lately?

“I saw a little of their game against Polokwane City. They looked very dangerous on attack but we will be ready to take them on. It’s our home fixture and we will do our best to win the game,”

What do you say to the supporters?

“The support in Polokwane is very good. The Peter Mokaba Stadium is a good stadium. We always do well there. The supporters always come in their big numbers,”

Masilela was talking to kaizerchiefs.com ahead of the much awaited clash taking place in Polokwane.
