Bucs steal points from The Dube Birds

The Dube Birds have been struggling in 2014 having won once in nine matches and that one win was against Golden Arrows on March 18.

Orlando Pirates came close to scoring when Mpho Makola looped a ball to Sifiso Myeni inside the box on eight minutes. The striker burst into the area but Greg Etafia was there to stop the shot.

Tlou Segolela opened a lead for the Buccaneers in the fourth minute of the game, when he met with a ball that was saved by Etafia from Thabo Matlaba’s shot. It then met with an empty.

The Dube Birds first chance of the game came through in the 21st minute in which Senzo Meyiwa was forced to make a save from Siyabonga Nomvethe. The rebounded effort by Felix Obada was then scrambled away in a mix-up between defender and goalkeeper

Moroka Swallows continued pressing, when Rudi Isaacs failed to score a ball when he beat Lucky Lekgwathi on the air. Through Lerato Shabangu, they narrowly missed an opportunity that went wide off the goal-post.

On the 50th minute of the match, Thabo Matlaba took a shot that but failed to beat Etafia, the ball fell onto Myeni but his shot was not to trouble the goalkeeper.

Swallows forced Orlando Pirates to sit back when they were looking for an equalizer, but it was not their day. Their last chance of the match fell through just a quarter of an hour left and Meyiwa beat away Nomvethe’s header from a throw-in. Vuysile Wana tried to follow up with the rebound but it was pushed out for a corner.
