Log leaders Chiefs extended their winning run by beating United in a cold Johannesburg weather. The first half of tonight’s game was comprised of cautiouness more than carelessness.  The visitors came to the game without their head coach, Cavin Johnson, who has since parted ways with the former three-times PSL Champions, Supersport United. Kaetano Tembo, the assistant coach, who is currently caretaking the team was always going to find it hard to crush Chiefs in their own yard seeing that they have been consistent since the beginning of the season.

Mandla Masango and Kingston Nkhatha’s strikes in the second half helped Chiefs to maintain their table top position. Tonight’s victory has also moved them four points clear against the second-positioned team in the PSL Log. It was however not an easy game for the hosts as they struggled in the first half to touch the back of the visitors’ net. Chiefs were expected to dominate the depleted United who were under the guidance of the Under-19 United team coach. Chiefs could have scored in the first half however final touches from the log leaders strikers were not up to standard.

‘Our boys gave us a very good Women’s Month presence since they never lost a single during our month (August), and we say thank you for the gift, we appreciate it. I am so proud of the boys, they showed a lot of respect on us as women, especially those who support Chiefs and I can only hope they keep it up, consistently so, in the future games as well. As for the overall game, my view is that we could have scored more than five goals but luck was not on our side. United must be happy wherever they are after conceding only twice in the second half. I so wanted to give them at least 5 because they don’t even have a coach. I mean if the team is fumbling we must finish them off but then again 3 points are in the bag, yet again, that’s what is important for now. Lastly I just wanna ask our supporters to come to the stadium in more numbers than we are doing now, I mean the team is doing well so there is no excuse for not attending games. We cannot be targeting the derbies only, which only come once in a while, we must show support and stop claiming to love Amakhosi yet we get stuck on our television. Please Makhosi, let’s go to the stadium’. The up-and-coming Chiefs supporter from Rustenburg, Octavia ‘Yellow-Bone’ Morare was talking to 90mins.co.za after tonight’s game.

Next week sees no PSL action due to Bafana Bafana International duties. We can only hope that players will not lose their form during the interval.
