During last years Cup the Clever Boys were knocked out during the first round against Golden Arrows, losing 3-2.

The Clever Boys come into the match looking to keep their current winning streak, having won their last League game against Amazulu. The Clever Boys’ best showing in the Telkom Knockout was in the 2011/12 season when they were runners-up, losing to Orlando Pirates in the Final.

“We need to be playing games, and if we get knocked out of this then we won’t be playing much over the next few weeks,” he said. “So it’s important we get through to the next round.”Hunt said

Head Coach Gavin Hunt continue to say we are  going into this  Cup and  they’re aiming to win as every other team, but will be tackling one game at a time.”

Hunt says, “It’s good that the game has come earlier, this team needs games. We’ve got a bunch of new players. We need to gel them; we need more games so it’s important for us to try and do well in these cups and get more games. As you know, I always say it, we don’t play enough football in South Africa.”
