Rüsselsheim. Sporty, economical, exciting: Opel is celebrating no less than four world premieres at the 2014 Paris Motor Show from October 4-19. The new Corsa, the stylish and sporty ADAM S, the Mokka with a new 100 kW 1.6 CDTI turbo diesel engine and the new Opel 2.0 CDTI engine in the Insignia and Zafira Tourer have all been presented to the masses for the first time.
“These four world premieres represent the consistent continuation of our model and powertrain offensive,” says Dr Karl-Thomas Neumann, Opel Group CEO. “The new Corsa and ADAM S are attractive additions to our portfolio and our new high-tech engines are at the forefront of current diesel technology.”
New bestseller with ultra-modern assistance systems: the Opel Corsa
The new Opel Corsa comes with a totally new interior that enhances the perception of high quality and spaciousness, including best-connected IntelliLink infotainment technology and ultra-modern driver assistance systems. The second-generation Opel Eye front camera, with Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, Following Distance Indication and Forward Collision Warning, further increases driving safety.
The new, refined and efficient 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo engines, smooth-shifting transmissions, a new suspension setup and optimised steering deliver class-leading levels of comfort and precision. The compact, all-aluminium 1.0-litre ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo engine already meets Euro 6 emission standards. It is available in two output configurations, producing either 66 kW or 85 kW. Both pump out 170 Nm of torque from just 1 800 rpm.
Designers have now combined the dynamic Corsa silhouette with flowing, sculptural lines and precise details which characterise Opel’s award-winning design philosophy. The new Corsa has been equipped as such to continue the model’s 32-year-long success story in the highly competitive sub-compact segment, and will roll off the assembly lines in Eisenach in Germany and Zaragoza in Spain at the end of 2014. The new Opel Corsa will make its South African debut during the course of 2015, with model line-up and specifications yet to be confirmed.
