Aces aim to TKO Ajax

Mabhudi KhenyezaBlack Aces and Ajax Cape Town will revive hostilities when the two sides lock horns in the Last 16 round of the Telkom Knockout Cup at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kickoff is at 3pm.

AmaZayoni inflicted a first defeat of the season on the Urban Warriors last weekend when Dennis Masina’s 66th minute goal sealed the points in a 1-0 win at Mbombela Stadium last Sunday.

This Sunday, Aces will seek an improvement in this Cup competition having exited at the first hurdle when they lost 3-1 at home to Orlando Pirates last season. Ajax were also eliminated from the last 16 round last year, losing 2-1 away to SuperSport United.

AmaZayoni have a particularly less than convincing record in this Cup and would want nothing more than advancing to the quarterfinals at the expense of Ajax, who have played a staggering 18 TKO matches since the Cup’s inception in 2006 as compared to just four for Aces.

Out of the 18 matches, the Cape side recorded eight wins, four draws and six defeats while AmaZayoni have only one win and three defeats from their overall four TKO matches so far.
