Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba says the players are looking forward to meeting their former coach Roger De Sa and Ajax Cape Town in the Telkom Knockout Cup quarterfinals.
The Buccaneers central defender says their target is to play in all cup finals this season adding that they’ve started the 2014/15 PSL season well.
“We’ve been checking them (Ajax), they’re a good side I must say and have a good coach. But we hope to do well against them,” said Gcaba.
“We’ve started well you know and we told ourselves that we can’t let the slip-ups pull us down, we need to look ahead and work hard.
“We’re hungry for more success in cup games and hunger is always there you know – we just want to go out there and play the football we enjoy.
The former Free State Stars defender says the reality of playing in cup finals and ending runner-up is draining them but they want to change that.
“Pirates are a big team and not winning a gold medal is not enough – no matter what happens, we’ll always aim high. All I can say is that it all depends on the coach (Vladimir Vermezovic), how he plans for this one – we’ll just play according to his instructions.
“We’re playing at home and that’s a boost for us you know, we’ll go all out looking for a win and we won’t focus on them or their coach,” concluded Gcaba.
