The SAFA Annual General Congress to take place on Saturday, 11 October at the Sandton Convention Centre will be a special occasion for the Association’s new leadership and football family.
The Congress which will announce a considerable profit for the Association after years of reporting huge losses will be preceded by honouring of State President, the Honourable Jacob Zuma and former Presidents Thabo Mbeki, Kgalema Motlanthe and FW de Klerk for the role they played in uplifting the game of football in the country.
The late father of the nation and former President, Nelson Mandela will also be honoured posthumously at the glittering event that will be beamed live by SABC Channel 404 on DSTV and other local broadcasters.
It is for the first time in the history of the sport that the sitting President and all his predecessors will sit in the same room for a sporting code’s annual congress.
The process will begin at 09h00 when SAFA’s founding fathers will be honoured in which each will receive an award for their contribution to the sport of billions.
After the awards ceremony, the business of the day will begin when the AGM gets underway.
Though a number of items are on the agenda, the whole proceedings should take less than two hours.
There will be a press conference to articulate the outcomes at the end of the AGM and this presser, which will also be beamed live, is scheduled for 13h30.
