Platinum Stars’ Tsepho Gumede said the heat in Rustenburg is what separated his side from Mamelodi Sundowns in a Telkom Knockout semifinal on Sunday, November 9.

A single goal from Eleazar Rodgers five minutes into the second 45 saw Platinum Stars run out 1-0 winners.

Speaking after the game, ‘man of the match’, Gumede said they expected a tough game against the Brazilians, but they knew if they kept it tight for the first 20 minutes they always had a chance.

“It is always tough playing against Sundowns, but you have to do what you have to do,” said Gumede.

“The first 20 minutes is always important and we knew that if we can withstand the first 20 minutes then we knew the heat was always going to get to them.”

Stars will now play SuperSport Unite din the final after they beat Orlando Pirates 2-0 on Saturday, November 8.
