Ajax Cape Town head coach, Roger De Sa, was very disappointed with the display of football on Saturday when his boys drew 0-0 to Maritzburg United.
The game was slow from the onset and hardly gathered any momentum throughout. Both sides failed to leave their mark and neither goalkeepers were kept very busy.
There were opportunities however, when Maritzburg United’s David Booysen was shown a second yellow card and a subsequent red for a late challenge, but the Ajax attack failed to capitalise.
Head coach Roger De Sa expressed his views on the match in the post-match press conference, “I think it was a poor game all around, not the best game of football. You had two teams trying to cancel each other out. We were very poor in the final third, and so were they, but we have to work on that. Overall, I don’t think it was a very good game of football.”
“But there are a few positives, and I thought Jenniker did a great job coming in as a sub and Anssi found his form again. So there are positives but, overall for us, it was a poor point.”
Despite the performance and result, Ajax still find themselves second on the Absa Premiership log with 18 points, 11 points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
Ajax gets another chance to open a gap between them and third placed Maritzburg United on Wednesday evening as they take on Bloemfontein Celtic at Cape Town Stadium, with kick off at 19:30.
