This is a result of the recommendations of a thorough disciplinary enquiry held on 28 October 2014 and conducted by commissioner Stef Franke of Franke & Associates Attorneys. The final conclusion of a 4-page comprehensive report issued to Black Aces by the external commissioner, was that the employee, Mbulelo Mabizela be dismissed forthwith.
Mabizela signed an employment contract on 12 May 2014 for a fixed period which would terminate on 30 June 2016.
Mabizela admitted that what he had said to the head coach was wrong and that he had breached the Aces Handbook in respect of the code of conduct, however it was found that it was practically impossible for his employment relationship to continue.
Whilst one acknowledges that the employee as was evident from the evidence given, is a very emotional person, his actions displayed an almost contemptuous lack of commitment to the goals of the employer.
Aces chairman Mario Morfou was very disappointed in that he had personally intervened in the negotiations with ’OJ’ and was unhappy with his conduct.
“He was one of our marque signings and when we entered into an agreement with him, we both discussed his previous disciplinary issues and I personally backed him. Very disappointed and it’s a sad day but we are running a business and no player is larger than the club.”
