It is every player’s dream to play for a top team,” says the new Kaizer Chiefs player David Zulu. ‘Mageba’ as he is affectionately known, was unveiled yesterday. Coach Stuart Baxter handed Zulu a jersey number 4 in front of the gathered media at the Chiefs Village this morning.
“It is a dream move for me,” adds Zulu. “I am here to do the work, and I am grateful to have this opportunity.”
Jersey number 4 was donned by the yesteryear great, legend Jackie Masike. Masike played as a central defender during the birth of Kaizer Chiefs in 1970. The jersey went on to ride on the back of another legend and one-time team captain Cyril Nzama. In recent times current defender Tefu Mashamaite wore the same jersey number.
“Kingston was a great player in his own right, but I am not here to fill his boots. The coach doesn’t compare me with Kingston,” Zulu responds to media questions linking his move to Chiefs with the departure of Kingston. Kingston left Chiefs to join SuperSport United during the January Window Period.
“I am ready to work hard and make a contribution to the success of Chiefs,” concludes Zulu.
