AmaZulu coach Steve Barker believes that victory against Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup on tonight could help Usuthu regain their form in the Absa Premiership.
Barker said as difficult as things may be and as impossible as they may look, a cup win at Princess Magogo Stadium could do wonders for the players’ mindsets.
“A win at this point in time could be just what we needed so that we gain our form back in the PSL. It is not going to be an easy match, Arrows are in good form and we must just go out there and get the result,” said Barker.
The AmaZulu coach said if people want to write the club off in the PSL, they can do that at their own risk. But as far as he is concerned anything is possible.
“The players need to do it for themselves, for the club and for the fans that have been showing lot of loyalty towards them.
“I still believe that we can do well and whoever chooses to write us off can do that at his own risk. We have great players who are capable of turning things around for us and it is just a matter of a win,” he said.
With Tshepo Liphoko out injured, Barker said they are hoping he recovers soon.
“We are disappointed about Liphoko and I am glad that he has started training a bit although he has not yet recovered fully.
“I know that he was also going to get a call up to the Under 20 national team but we would never have allowed him to because of the situation we are in at the moment,” said Barker.
