Platinum Stars Football Club will be participating in the newly launched tournament called The Maize Triangle Challenge to take place in the North West Province. The tournament will see 4 big names in the Premier Soccer League and Botswana League lock horns for the newly launched title. Platinum Stars media relation officer Tebogo Mochadibane believes the Maize Triangle Challenge comes at just the right time for the Rustenburg side. The tournament is scheduled to take place on the 11th July at the Moruleng Stadium, second home to the North West Outfit.
Dikwena will face Botswana giants Township Rollers in the opening game of the tournament with the winner facing either Bloemfontein Celtic or Mpumalanga Black Aces in the final later that day.
“This is a tournament of its own calibre and it comes at the time when we prepare for the new season. For me, this will be an ideal platform to showcase the players we will bring in the team for the new season, and to give many of our promising players a run-out looking ahead of the upcoming season”, Johnson comments.
“Exciting times, looking at the fact that the season will be resuming very shortly, players are coming back, so in terms of giving the players a run out and seeing if they are ready for the upcoming season – this tournament comes at the right time,” said Mochadibane.
“We will not just be adding to the numbers. Moruleng is an alternative venue for us, we are saying to the people to come out and support the club. We are good to go and fully behind this tournament.”
More information will be available on the tournament on our social media platforms and on here.
