The cream of KwaZulu-Natal’s budding soccer stars will converge in Durban over the coming weekend to participate in the U/19 Provincial Selection Tournament and stand a chance to represent the Province at the Durban U19 International Football Tournament scheduled for 29 July – 08 August 2015.

The Provincial Selection Tournament, a curtain-raiser for the International Tournament, will see 12 teams battle it out at the Cato Manor Sports Grounds on 20-21 June 2015.  Teams from all eleven South African Football Association (SAFA) Regions will participate in the two-day tournament.  The best players will be selected to proceed to the final camp in July, where the squad to represent the Province in the SAFA U19 National Championships to be held in the North West Region, ahead of the Durban U19 International Football Tournament, will be selected.

Participating Regions include; Umkhanyakude, Zululand, Uthungulu, Amajuba, uThukela, eThekwini, uMgungundlovu, uMzinyathi, Harry Gwala, iLembe and Ugu.  They will be joined by a select number of the KZN Academy X1 team.

The Cato Manor Sports Ground has been prepared accordingly to host the triple-header games that will be played over the two-day period.  Plans are also in place to ensure that all participants have a hassle-free environment that will enable players to perform at their highest peak and showcase their talents to the Selectors.

The Provincial Selection Tournament will not only ensure that the Province is represented by the best players during the SAFA National Championships as well as the International Tournament, but will go a long way in promoting sports development in the Province.  It is also aimed at building strong relations between the various Regions and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle amongst our youth.
