The road to the 2015 Carling League of Champions finals was concluded over the weekend at the Saints Sports Club and Mamelodi Grounds in Port Elizabeth and Pretoria respectively. The fourth edition of the Carling League of Champions has travelled to various provinces across the country in a bid to celebrate local heroes through football.
X20 FC of Mamelodi and Swallows FC of Port Elizabeth were the two teams to conclude the six finalists of the finals scheduled to take place at the NIKE Training Centre in Soweto on 11 July. Following last weekend’s attendance of football greats such as Proffesor Ngubane, the tournament continues to attract renowned football coaches. The Eastern Cape leg of the tournament saw former Chippa United assistant coach, Velile Dyaloyi also giving praise to the tournament.
“This is a great initiative by Carling Black Label that provides such amazing platforms for players in our communities to play football in quality tournaments such as these. Most of our players have never experienced how it is to play football in such professional conditions” said Velile Dyaloyi.
“This year’s edition of the tournament has been quite outstanding. We have seen incredible attendance from all the communities we have been to, proving that people look forward to such tournaments. Through the Carling League of Champions, we are able to demonstrate our efforts of celebrating our very own champions” said Carling Black Label’s Marketing Manager, Nqobile Ka-Mbonane.
