Orlando Pirates make their way to Swaziland today to participate in the four team tournament, the Kings Super Cup on Saturday.
The Buccaneers this morning embark on a three hour drive towards the Swazi border from their pre-season camp location in Nelspruit.
Head Coach Eric Tinkler is looking forward to the prospect of participating in a competitive pre-season tournament as this will help him assess his entire squad ahead of the kick off of the new season.
“Look we quite frankly don’t know what to expect (in terms of the conditions) but we have been informed that our first training session will be on Friday. I think once we have had an opportunity to see the type of surface we will be playing on and get a feel of the field as it were, that will surely go a long way towards helping us decide our approach to the games.”
On Playing in King’s Cup
“For our opening match we are scheduled to play against Royal Leopards who played Wits in the CAF Confederation Cup. We know they will be highly motivated to beat us and we are looking forward to that challenge of a highly competitive match. We will be looking to mix things up especially for the first match as that game will serve as a great opportunity to assess the fitness levels of the guys returning from leave as well as see how our new signees adapt to different conditions.
“We will obviously be looking to get to the final in order to give everybody an opportunity to play.”
