Maritzburg boost squad with Zimbabwean striker

Evans RusikeMaritzburg United have confirmed the signing of Zimbabwean international striker, Evans Rusike, on a two year deal.

The KZN club are looking to boost their squad as they head into the new season, which will see them partaking in the MTN8 competition for the first time, their opening game against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday 5 August.

The Team of Choice are hoping that Rusike will be a hit in Pietermaritzburg, issuing the following statement on their website.

“He has made four appearances for the senior national team, and scored eight goals for his former team Hwange FC last season.

“Rusike comes in as a fresh replacement for fellow countryman Terrance Mandaza and joins another Zimbabwean Khumbulani Banda. “Banda and I know each other well and we have played against each other. It’s great that we are now team mates,” he said.

“I am here to do a job. I am going to make them (fans) happy,” the player added.

Evans joined the Zimbabwe Premier League outfit Hwange in 2012, which was when he started his professional career
