Banyana Banyana beat Kenya, set up final round clash with Equatorial Guinea

Vera_Pauw_trainingBanyana Banyana will face Equatorial Guinea in the final round of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games qualifiers.

The South Africans deposed off Kenya 1-0 in Machakos with a Rhoda Mulaudzi goal in the second leg third round clash to go through on a 2-0 aggregate win after registering a 1-0 victory in the first leg in South Africa a fortnight ago.

The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana head coach had made two changes from the team that started the first leg – bringing in Refiloe Jane and Leandra Smeda for Silindile Ngubane and Shiwe Nogwanya.

Equatorial Guinea needed extra time to brush aside Nigeria 2-1 in Malabo – the first leg in Abuja ended 1-1 two weeks ago.

Banyana Banyana will host the first leg of the final round on the weekend of 2, 3, 4 October 2015 with the return leg scheduled for the weekend of 16, 17, 18 October in Equatorial Guinea.

The winner will qualify for the Olympic Games, which will take, place from 5 – 21 August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
