after long and arduous journey, Orlando Pirates Football Club are in the final four of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will take on the most decorated club in CAF inter-club competition history, Al Ahly. The Mighty Buccaneers will take on The Red Devils of Cairo over two legs, starting at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 26 September 2015, with the winner contesting the cup final against either Zamalek SC (also of Egypt) or Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.
Orlando Pirates Head Coach Eric Tinkler remains optimistic that his chargers will rise to the occasion despite the team suffering major setbacks through the suspension and injuries of key players ahead of the weekend’s clash.
“We are going into this match with a positive frame of mind. It is vitally important for us to win the home leg and also ensure that we do not concede a goal in order to have something to protect for the second leg.”
“It is true that we will be without some of our key players who were in fact instrumental in helping the Club reach the 2013 CAF Champions League final; their experience will definitely be missed but we cannot do anything about that. We have a good squad of players who are all capable and it will be up to them to step up and do the job for us”, concluded Tinkler.
