The Department of Sport and Recreation South Africa Minister, Mr Fikile Mbalula is shocked and saddened by the passing of Mr Mvuzo Mbebe. Mr Mbebe was a former 2013 African Cup of Nations, Africa Nations Championship Local Organising CEO and SABC Executive. He passed away after being admitted in hospital.
Minister Fikile Mbalula said Mr Mbebe was exemplary and all in the sporting fraternity should emulate him.
“I am saddened by a loss of a treasure in South African sport. We have lost one of our most talented sport administrator. Mvuzo over the years contributed immensely in South African sport, from fighting against the injustices of apartheid’s segregation laws to administering and developing sport in a democratic dispensation.
We stand firm on the shoulders of this giant and salute him as a gallant fighter whose name will never be forgotten because of his positive contribution in our society. I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends and the entire sporting fraternity” Minister Mbalula said
