Kaizer Chiefs beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-1 in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal at Nelspruit’s Mbombela Stadium on Saturday evening. Camaldine Abraw scored the opener, while Erick Mathoho netted the second. AmaZayoni countered with a goal in the second half.
Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela made a few changes to the starting line-up compared to the last league match against Jomo Cosmos. Itumeleng Khune and George Lebese came back into the team, relegating Reyaad Pieterse and Bernard Parker to the bench.
Meanwhile, Lucky Baloyi replaced the suspended Willard Katsande, who had collected four bookings.
And just when Chiefs thought the game was over, Black Aces scored a goal via Sibusiso Masina in the 79th minute. In the end, Chiefs were simply the better team on the day.
