Eleazar Rodgers’ brace helped Platinum Stars fight back to defeat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Amakhosi put on some early pressure, winning a corner-kick and penetrating Stars’ final third. But it was Dikwena who threatened first.
Kaizer Chiefs centre back Lorenzo Gordinho was booked after conceding a free-kick on the edge of the Chiefs box in the 20th minute.
Dikwena’s attacking midfielder Tintswalo Tshabalala’s resultant free-kick was easily gathered by keeper Reyaad Pieterse
The home side broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime when Abraw headed home Siphiwe Tshabalala’s free-kick.
Substitute Eleazar Rodgers snatched a late goal in the 86th minute when he headed home Robert Ng’ambi’s cross from the right to make it 1-1.
He then scored again in the 93rd minute from close range to seal a 2-1 win to Stars on the day.
