Baxter eyes first win as Matsatsantsa boss

BaxterStuart Baxter will be eyeing his first win as SuperSport United head coach when the Tshwane outfit welcomes Ajax Cape Town to the Lucas Moripe Stadium for an Absa Premiership clash on Sunday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30pm.

The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor officially took over the reins at the start of the week, manning the sidelines in a 1-1 draw at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Six points separate SuperSport in 10th place and Platinum Stars in fifth spot with victory at the weekend likely to move the club back into the top eight.

Baxter was impressed with how Matsatsantsa performed in his first game in charge and believes they were good value for a point at the Dr Molemela Stadium in what was testing weather conditions.

“I thought the lads deserved a point, they were well organised and that’s a tribute to them, not to me, because I’ve thrown down a few things and tried to organise them and they’ve got to snap it up very quickly – they did so,” said Baxter.

“We’re going to have to keep on working with our organisation and our structure. I want to get to the point where the players are so comfortable that they’ll start expressing themselves more.”
