Nedbank launched an innovative concept designed to demonstrate sound financial and lifestyle management through an individual’s life stages. Aptly named ‘ Nedbank Ke Yona team Ring of Steel’, the concept aims to work with selected players to demonstrate what it takes to build a lucrative and sustainable career on and off the soccer field, even long after the final whistle of one’s football career.
“Football is a lot like managing your finances. You must have a goal, be committed, work hard to attain it, and find the right team to work and enable you to realise that goal. This is why we continue to sponsor the Nedbank Cup and all its assets, including the Ke Yona team search and the Ke Yona team Ring of Steel. It gives us the perfect opportunity to connect with clients and the communities we serve, and demonstrate how we can enable them to make the things that really matter happen” said Nkosinathi Msiza, Senior Brand Communications Manager at Nedbank.
Whilst this campaign looks at financial and lifestyle management through the careers of Nedbank Ke Yona team search graduates; Ian Chikohwa, Jarred Meyer and Aubrey Maphosa Modiba, the advice and tools provided can be used by any athlete or anyone else looking to make the most of the resources they have.
Chikohwa, Meyer and Modiba, are currently applying their trait in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and will have access to an esteemed panel of experts in financial planning, health fitness and nutrition, media training and even style to enable them to score the goal of carving out a long and prosperous soccer career.
Alongside these experts, the panel also includes a strong support network including mentors such as football legends – allowing each player to draw from their expansive knowledge and experience to identify the means to move smoothly forward in their career. In addition a skilled manager in the form of a player agent will guide them along the way just like a soccer striker leans on the support of his fellow teammates to convert opportunities into goals.
‘Nedbank is always looking into finding innovative ways of making the things that really matter happen. This concept is a first of its kind in South African football and we are confident it will achieve the desired outcome of adding value to the lives and careers of these young soccer players, and demonstrate that anyone can be extraordinary when they partner with Nedbank,’ concluded Msiza.
