Jermain Defoe set for England recall with Roy Hodgson ready to name him in Euro 2016 squad

Jermain Defoe believes he is on the brink of an incredible Euros return – and Marcus Rashford will also get an England call.

Sunderland veteran Defoe, 33, won the last of his 55 caps in November 2013 but his red-hot form has left Roy Hodgson ready to call him up when he names his squad on Monday.

Hodgson will include several standby players and Manchester United teenager Rashford will be invited to join up to train with England but Hodgson is unlikely to take him to the Euros.

Rashford, 18, was left out of the England under-20s squad for the Toulon tournamentand will train with Hodgson as they have three friendlies against Turkey, Australia and Portugal.
