Highlands Park’s veteran winger Franklin Cale says the playing staff are responding well to new head coach Gordon Igesund.
Igesund recently took over from Alan Freese at Highlands Park, making a return to the club he once played for in the 1970’s.
Although the Lions of the North were edged out 2-1 by Orlando Pirates in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash on Saturday night, Cale believes the team are on the right track under Igesund and says that the players enjoy working under the former Bafana coach.
“It’s good to have coach Gordon here. I played under him when I was still a young boy,” said Cale, who was coached by Igesund at Ajax Cape Town.
“The players are quite happy, the coach gives us our freedom to go out on the park and play good football.
“I am just a little bit disappointed, we could have won this [Pirates] game,” he added. “In the first half we had six clear-cut chances, we didn’t put them away. We are a professional side and if you are professional you must put those chances away.”
