Abafana Bes’thende and Polokwane City have played to a nail biting 3-all draw at King Zwelithini Stadium tonight.
From the first minute it was an even game with both sides using their position and ball well, looking to open the score. There were a number of opportunities created by both sides, and the fans were on edge as both teams defenders kept clearing balls from dangerous positions.
We got the break through in the 32nd minute when Jooste found the back of the net after a fantastic assist from hard working Fikizolo. Polokwane City though were not having it and equalised a mere 4 minutes afterwards off the boot of Ramagalela.
This set the tone for the night. Lamola again took us into the lead in the 41st minute after being played up the centre of the field and finding himself with two defenders and the keeper to beat. He took them all on and managed to sneak a shot in, taking the lead again. Rise and Shine once again were not having it! They fought back and in the 45th minute scored when Mncwango headed the ball in from the right hand side to equalise gong into the break.
The second half was a lot tougher, we substituted Mbaeva for Gumede due to injury and things were going to be tough. The players had a great battle on the field and Polokwane took the lead in the 77th minute when Maluleke found the back of the net. It alsmost looked like that would be the final score, but fresh legs and a fight from both Sibiya and Mahachi lifted the team up.
There were some enterprising plays in the game, and the fast play from Sibiya kept the visitors defence on their toes. He managed to equalise in the 87th minute for a well deserved goal for his efforts.
A good all round game fro the team against a determined Polokwane City.
We will now travel to Cape Town where we face Ajax Cape Town on Saturday night at Athlone Stadium.
