Jose Mourinho is confident Real Madrid will not embark on another ‘dirty tricks’ campaign to sign David De Gea.
Bernabeu president Florentino Perez claimed someone at Manchester United is “messing around” with keeper De Gea, with his European champions poised to make a fresh move after failing to land the player 18 months ago.
De Gea’s £29million transfer to Real collapsed acrimoniously on deadline day in summer 2015, with the player signing a lucrative new four-year deal in the immediate aftermath.
Perez’s latest remarks are seen as the start of a campaign by Real to unsettle De Gea and turn his head, ahead of a potential summer bid to take him home to Spain.
But Mourinho — a former Real Madrid boss — reacted to Perez’s latest comments by claiming the Real president needs to speak directly with him if they are serious about trying to sign the 26-year-old.
