AmaZulu are ready to fight for the pride of KZN when they meet Maritzburg United in a provincial derby this Friday evening at the Harry Gwala Stadium

The Team of Choice have endured a challenging season and are bottom of the log with nine games to go.

Usuthu forward, Ovidy Karuru says derbies always brings out the best in players but is expecting an even greater intensity to the match than normal.

“It is not going to be easy, considering they are bottom of the log, that’s what makes them dangerous, Karuru explained.

“They will come there blazing, they really need the points. There fans always get behind them and that makes a big difference. We have prepared well and we are going there for a win.”

AmaZulu head to Pietermaritzburg off the back of a disappointing 4-1 loss at the hands of Orlando Pirates last weekend.

Karuru says the defeat has not derailed their ambitions of pushing for a top eight finish.

We are still targeting a top eight, There are still plenty of games to play,” Karuru said.

“I think if we win another five games then we will have every chance of finishing in the top half of the table,” he added.

Kick-off at the Harry Gwala Stadium is at 20:00.
