Kaizer Chiefs’ Khama Biliat took home the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award for March. The Zimbabwean attacker scored a curling scintillating goal from 25-yards to equalise for Amakhosi in their 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in early March. He also takes home R5, 000 for his effort.
“I think it just happens that I score special goals for Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award for March.”
“I don’t plan to score special goals – I want to score as many goals as possible to help the team win matches. At the end of the day, it’s all about the team, not about me.” said Khama
The goal by Billiat was voted for by fans who picked their favourite via the Premier Soccer League (PSL) website. Each Absa Premiership Goal of the month will be on the list of goals that fans can vote for as the Absa-lutely Awesome Goal of the Season at the end of the season awards.
Khama scooped the best goal award for the curled goal from 25-yards against SuperSport United. It was presented on Thursday afternoon at the PSL headquarters.
“I tried to pass the ball to a teammate,” remembers the Zimbabwean. “The ball deflected against the opposition player. I got the ball again and I saw a gap, spotting that the goalie didn’t have enough of a view. I went for goal and thankfully beat the goalkeeper.”said Khama
Voting for the Goal of the Month for April opened on Monday 29 April, on the PSL website and will close at midnight on Wednesday, 8 May. Football supporters can go to www.psl.co.za and cast their votes. All the shortlisted goals are available on the PSL website for public voting.
On the season so far, with two league games and a cup final to go, Khama says, “We’ve made mistakes and we want to make sure that we finish the season on a high note.
“When I collect awards like this, I think of my teammates who do well in their roles. Without my teammates I wouldn’t be here.” concluded Khama Billiat
