PSL launched the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season on Monday afternoon. The ceremony was attended by three other PSL clubs took place at the Absa Contact Centre in Auckland Park.
Kaizer Chiefs coach believes that they have prepared the team well and that they are ready for the league to kick off dispite loosing against Orlando Pirates last weekend.
“We have done our homework,” . “We have brought in new blood in the team. I am happy with the preparation and think we are better prepared to challenge for the honours this season.” said coach Ernst Middendorp
Kaizer Chiefs will open the season with a short trip to the East Rand to face Highlands Park.
“We have done a lot of work, on and off the pitch, six days ahead of Amakhosi’s opening fixture, “We have to recognise that for the past few months we had a problem with injuries. That impacted negatively our intentions. This time we have it all worked out. I anticipate good performances this season.”
“We worked with the individual players in the past two months to get everyone up to speed,” he added. “We respect Highlands Park because they are a good side, but we collected four points from them last season. They do lots of things right and so it will be a tough game on Sunday.” said Middendorp
The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 4 August at Makhulong Stadium, Tembisa. It will kick off at 15:00.
“Our preparations have gone according to plan,” said Bernard Parker who also attended the launch. “We had a good camp, the kind we have not had in a long time. We want to start strong. From the start to the final whistle, we want to start and finish strong in every game we play this season.”
