Tshwane rivals SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns will engage in a fierce MTN8 Cup first leg semi-final battle on Sunday afternoon.

The match is scheduled for Lucas Moripe Stadium at 15:00.

This is going to be the country’s draw card as the two cross-town rivals are going into this clash highly motivated by the midweek league victories.

Earlier this month, Sundowns beat United in the opening match of the new 2019-2020 season at the same venue.

As for United, they’ll come into this match with guns blazing following a 2-0 win against their rivals in a league clash three weeks ago.

The two outfits arguably have Cup pedigree and they both know how to win Cup matches.

It is going to be hard to predict the score between the two sides in the lucrative competition as they are both on top form since the new season kicked off.

Matsatsantsa will pin their hopes on players such as lethal forward Bradley Grobler, skipper Dean Furman, Clayton Daniels, Ronwen Williams and the big centre forward Thamsanqa “Ganda-Ganda” Gabuza.

A big boost for Matsatsantsa is the return of midfielder Aubrey Modiba who picked up an injury in their league opener, ironically against Sundowns.
