Cape Town City have confirmed a contract extension for midfielder Mpho Makola that will keep him at the club until June 2021.
The experienced former Orlando Pirates star has put pen-to-paper just a few days after Austrian midfielder Roland Putsche announced his departure from the team.
“The club is delighted to confirm that we have renewed the contract of Mpho Makola, keeping the midfielder at the club until June 2021!” the club said in a statement.
Makola signed for City at the start of the campaign but courted controversy when he was suspended for four matches for pushing referee Abongile Tom.
He had initially been suspended for six months, but saw his sanction reduced on appeal.
Makola has so far played 20 times for City this season and will hope to help them win a top-eight position when the Absa Premiership resumes.
