The Mamelodi Sundowns Youth Development Academy has always produced quality youngsters who have gone out and claimed a place amongst the best players in the country.
Masandawana has seen academy graduates like Keletso Makgalwa, Motjeka Madisha, Sphelele Mkhulise, Nico Lukhubeni, Harold Majadibodu and Promise Mkhuma showcasing their abilities and winning titles with the first team.
Madisha has shown his quality in the defence of Masandawana as he played an integral part in the treble-winning side. His displays have been rewarded with a Bafana Bafana call up. The defender has played more than forty games in the previous season.
Keletso Makgalwa has shown that he is one for the future and has scored a couple of important goals for Masandawana, who can forget the goal he scored in the Nedbank Cup last eight against Highlands Park. The 23-year old scored six goals in all competition during the 2019/20 season.
Sphelele Mkhulise might be short in stature but he is strong and brave. The twenty-four-year-old is battling it out with senior players like Sibusiso Vilakazi and Maboe for a place in the team and has proven that he has what it takes to be the best. He has played thirty- four games and found the back of the net on four occasions.
Nico Lukhubeni is a 24-year-old right-back, who is learning from the likes of Anele Ngcongca and Thapelo Morena. The defender has pace and is able to use it effectively as was evident in his first goal for the senior side when he made a solo run against Chippa United from his half. Lukhubeni has played eight games and has one goal to his name.
