To pave way for this weekend’s highly-anticipated 2020/21 campaign kick-off, the Premier Soccer League together with sponsors MTN will launch the MTN8 competition in Johannesburg.

You can watch the launch LIVE at 18h30 on SuperSport’s PSL channel 202.

The MTN8 will usher back domestic football following a brief off-season break.

Tonight’s launch will be attended by SuperSport United captain, Ronwen Williams amongst others. SuperSport United are the defending champions after they beat Highlands Park in the final at last season’s final at Orlando Stadium.

He will be joined by a PSL representative together with Nomsa Mazibuko, MTN GM: Brand and Communication.

The Quarter-final weekend:

The first quarter-final fixture will be played next Saturday at 15h00 between Tshakhuma FC and defending champions, SuperSport United at Thohoyandou Stadium. While these are familiar waters for SuperSport United, the MTN8 is an uncharted territory for Tshakhuma FC.

The second match on the day will see Orlando Pirates play Cape Town City in what is expected to be a highly contested encounter at 18h00 at Orlando Stadium.

Orlando Pirates, having finished third (check), will be against a club that enjoyed by far the best run during the PSL biologically safe environment (BSE).

Cape Town City were by far the best side in the PSL bio-bubble. They will still be motivated to carry on from where they left.

The following day, Sunday, 18 October 2020, Kaizer Chiefs are at home to Eric Tinkler’s Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium in Soweto. The match is at 15h00.

At 18h00, Mamelodi Sudowns and Bloemfontein Celtic will renew cup rivalry
