Chiefs will travel across town to face historical foes Swallows a few days after drawing 2-2 with Golden Arrows in another league clash. Swallows come into the game on the back of a 0-0 draw at home against TS Galaxy.

While Swallows are one of five teams yet to lose a league game this season, Ngcobo is up for the challenge of facing them and has one target on his mind. “For us it is important to get three points so that we gain confidence and belief moving forward,” he divulges. We are up against a strong team that has not lost this season. We have to go there and fight for a win.”

True to Swallows’ current form, the midfield dynamo who has started all four of Chiefs’ league games this season is not expecting their hosts to give them an easy run on Tuesday evening. “We expect them to come out and attack,” he adds. We know they are also strong at the back. They have conceded one goal this season and if we apply ourselves well, we will be able to get the win. I am confident of that.”

Ngcobo also holds the view that if Amakhosi display the same kind of gritty determination against Swallows that they did in their last league game against Arrows, they will be able to come out with a positive result. He feels Chiefs were unfortunate not have returned from their weekend clash without all three points.

“I felt we were unlucky against Arrows. We were supposed to win the game, but we played a draw, we might not have been clinical enough in front of goal, but these are things we can improve on. I know we will,” vows the young midfielder

Having played in seven games this season in all competitions already and after a positive personal performance on Saturday against Arrows, Ngcobo is not concerned that he will be targeted by opposing teams. “It gives me positive energy if the opponents are focused on me,” he says. I don’t put myself under pressure by over thinking anything. I stay focused and will continue to go out and play for the team and the badge.”

Thus far being a team player and getting a lot of game time is something the 21-year-old has been reveling in every time he has gotten a chance to be on the field of play. “I have enjoyed my football since the league started and have also enjoyed doing and implementing what the coach asks of me. I do feel I need to be more effective by creating and scoring more goals.”

He will be looking to be at the heart of Chiefs attack on Tuesday and relishes facing up-to the strong Swallows rear guard.

“These kind of games against strong teams challenge us and we enjoy playing them,” he concludes. “It will be good for us because we have not lost in our last three games and they have not lost all season. We need to keep it tight at the back and not concede. We have to take our chances and win the game”.
