Kaizer Chiefs frustrated in Angola

Chiefs having it tough in Angola. Government is concerned by SA Covid variant and sees Amakhosi as a danger to Angolans, despite the traveling party testing negative. Police and not health reps are guarding the hotel. Chiefs delegation feels intimidated, harassed, discriminated.

“The treatment we are receiving is not the same as treatment against Angolans and other foreign nationals in this hotel and city”… Apparently the host club has apologized, but say it’s a government matter and out of their control.

When Chiefs returned to training, which was a 2 hour trip, they found the hotel blocked by police and government authorities. They needed to do another screening, which took 40 minutes. “This is despite the team being cleared in tests conducted in SA and Angola”

Authorities also threatened to kick Chiefs out of the hotel, if they don’t comply and continue to complain. People were woken up at almost midnight when these threats were made. Angolans involved in this game, including non playing staff will have to quarantine for 15 days.

kickoff today against Primero de Agosto is at 5pm……..It was 0-0 in the first leg….
