Kaizer Chiefs came from a goal down to equalise late in the DStv Premiership clash with Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium to earn a 1-1 draw. The hosts had taken the lead in the 15th minute through Thabiso Kutumela who looked to be in an offside position when he was played through on goal in the build-up to his goal. Chiefs managed to find a late leveler with Lebogang Manyama heading home from close range in the 88th minute.
Chiefs were on the back foot when Happy Mashiane lost the ball way up field in the 15thminute and Maritzburg launched a counterattack which eventually saw Jose Ali Meza set free up the right wing by Daylon Claasen. Meza managed to shrug off Philani Zulu and played the ball across to Kutumela to his right, who was clearly in an offside position. That was not picked up by the officials and the Maritzburg skipper played on and side footed the ball home past a lunging Daniel Akpeyi to put Maritzburg 1-0 ahead.
Manyama battled all game long and was unfortunate not to have scored in the 81stminute but was composed when heading home the equaliser late in the game. Samir Nurković looked dangerous after coming on in the second half with a lot of energy. Baccus was composed when he sent in a telling ball which eventually lead to Chiefs levelling matters.
