Rivaldo Coetzee, I’ve won the league every year since I’ve joined

Rivaldo Coetzee’s journey has been a testament to the rewards that come from patience. The 25-year old midfielder’s journey with The Brazilians began in 2017, when he was signed from Ajax Cape town.

Rivaldo – who has been compared to the likes of Sergio Busquets by co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi – has overcome the effects of a career-threatening injury to become a mainstay in the starting XI, and has contributed massively to the success that the club has enjoyed in recent years winning multiple league titles, the Nedbank Cup, Telkom Knockout Cup and most recently, the long-awaited MTN8 trophy.

Speaking on his impressive trophy haul in his time at the club, Rivaldo pondered on what he thinks has been the most special to him:

“I think the league [ABSA Premiership & DStv Premiership] has been the most special, I’ve won the league every year since I’ve joined, but I think the one in the bio-bubble where we came from behind to catch up to Chiefs [was the most special].”

Bafana Ba Style are currently on an extended break as the PSL goes on a break for the AFCON competition, and we asked ‘Riva’ about what he planned on doing in his time off:

“[Currently] I have no special plans and won’t be traveling for this break. I will be staying at home recovering and trying my best to stay covid free for the break. I just want to come back stronger for the 2nd half of the season.”
